Abuse, শব্দটি Verb এবং Noun হিসেবেও ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।
Meaning as a verb
1. To use anything for an evil purpose in a way which is morally wrong or harmful (কোনো কিছু কোনো অমানবিক বা ক্ষতিকর উদ্দেশ্যে ব্যবহার করা)
Example : Naila is abusing her power and position by pressurizing people under her to do work in favor of her.
নায়লা ক্ষমতা ও পদের অপব্যবহার করে তার অধঃস্তন সহকর্মীদের তার পক্ষে কাজ করতে বাধ্য করে।
Rahim abused the trust of his teacher that he placed in him.
রহিম তার শিক্ষক তার ওপর যে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছেন তার অপব্যবহার করে।
People should not abuse their body at the young age otherwise they have to pay for it at their old age.
মানুষের উচিত না তাদের শারীরিক ক্ষমতার অপব্যবহার করা, নইলে বৃদ্ধ বয়সে তার ফলভোগ করতে হবে।
The victim claimed that she was abused both physically and mentally.
2. To treat anyone violently or cruelly (কারও সঙ্গে নির্দয় বা নির্মম আচরণ করা)
Example : Nowadays children are abused physically or mentally in many places.
আজকাল শিশুরা শারীরিক বা মানসিকভাবে অবমাননার শিকার হয়।
4. To talk to anyone cruelly or rudely or in other words rebuking someone (কাউকে তিরস্কার করা)
Example : The father abused his son very badly for failing in the exam.
পরীক্ষায় অকৃতকার্য হওয়ায় বাবা তার ছেলেকে তীব্রভাবে তিরস্কার করলেন।
Meaning as a noun
1. The use of anything in an immoral or harmful way (অমানবিক বা ক্ষতিকরভাবে কোনো কিছুর ব্যবহার)
Example : Abuse of power and position is a common thing to see in our day to day life.
আজকের দিনে ক্ষমতা ও পদের অপব্যবহার হতে দেখা একটি সাধারণ ঘটনা।
People should be aware of drug and alcohol abuse.
2. The violent, unfair or cruel behavior of anyone
(নির্দয়, অশোভন বা নির্মম ব্যবহার)
Example : Child abuse is a common crime which we can see in the daily newspapers.
3. Offensive and bad words said to someone
(কাউকে অকথ্য ভাষায় বলা কোনো কথা)
Example : Rahim experienced too much verbal abuse from his teacher because of getting poor marks in the exam.
Misuse

2. Improper use of anything (কোনোকিছুর অযথার্থ ব্যবহার)
Example : He was sacked for his misuse of power and position.
